October Weekends

After too many disappointing weekends out of town, watching the Tigers get worse week by week, we were happy to spend the last couple of weeks in Charleston.

We lucked up & found a great deal on some used furniture that we're planning to use in the nursery. We paid next to nothing for it, but it needs to be refinished. Last weekend we got a good start on it . We got most of it sanded and primed, but only got about 1/3 of the way done. We'd hope to work on the furniture again this weekend, but the constant rain kept us indoors. We (or rather John) did get the nursery itself painted, so we still made some progress. My parents were visiting this weekend, so it was nice to get to spend some time with them as well. While they were here we went to hear some great bluegrass on Sullivan's Island, ate at Fiery Ron's Hometeam BBQ (one of John's favorites), and celebrated John & Beth's birthday.

This afternoon we decided to put the chores & studying aside, and do something fun! Halloween is just around the corner & we tried our hand at carving a pumpkin! This is actually something we did very early in our relationship, but for one reason or another haven't gotten around to doing it in the past few years (6 years to be exact). Here are some pictures (including one of the non-stop rain)...
