Happy Valentines Day!

I'm a day late in posting this, but Happy Valentine's Day! Whit turned 3 weeks old on Valentine's Day, and the past 3 weeks have been filled with a little of everything - for Whit & for his parents.

Over the past 3 weeks, Whit provided us with some drama when his weight dropped from 5 lbs 10 oz (at birth), to 4 lbs 14 oz (4 days old). Whit was such a small fry, that nursing was just a bit too hard for him to do without getting exhausted, so his doctor had us supplement his feedings with formula. Since then, it's been a struggle to get him to continue to nurse, but he's slowly getting the hang of nursing, and his weight thankfully is now above his birth weight, as he continues to grow. He's done so well that we don't have to go in to the doctor for any more weight checks. In fact, we had to retire two preemie outfits today that he has outgrown!

Other than those feeding issues, Whit is a fantastic baby with a very laid back demeanor. He's had a lot of firsts these past 3 weeks, including his first bath, first walk around the block, first Clemson Basketball game (on TV), and first trip to the grocery store. He's very alert when he's awake and has really started to look at things the past couple of days, especially our faces when we're holding him close.

Mommy & Daddy have also had a lot of firsts these last 3 weeks. We are are learning to live on sleep in 3 hour intervals (when we're lucky), have become much more adept at changing diapers, are learning to be more patient with each other as living on sleep in 3 hour intervals seems to not always bring out our best qualities, and still falling in love with our little boy a bit more each day.

First real bath! (Whit did not love this)

First walk around the neighborhood.
