We have a cat, named Libby. She usually thinks she's a dog. She sleeps on top of us (but doesn't weigh 30+ lbs), she is always in our laps, and she is constantly trying to get us to pet her - all dog traits. However, she bathes herself and can be left at home alone for days at a time. It's really the best of both worlds.
For the first four or five months of Whit's life, she totally ignored him. For the subsequent ten months, they were BFFs. She followed him around and tried to get him to pet her. His idea of petting her was to grab fists full of fur, but she didn't seem to mind. He thought she was hilarious, and he would laugh every time she was near.
Starting when Whit was about 17 mo. old, she started running from him. I can't imagine why.

In the pic above, she had been resting peacefully by the door, basking in the sunlight shining through the window. Then Whit arrived.
She circled back, hoping to reclaim her spot. Alas, he was on a mission.
See the mischievous look on his face? No wonder she runs.
Lately, he's been trying so hard to sit or stand on top of her. There are no pictures of this because it never ends well. She bolts like lightening, and he gets startled which usually ends in tears.
I'm sure that one day they will be BFFs once more. But today is not that day.
