We saw the Da Vinci Code yesterday, and I have to say - don't waste your money seeing it at the theater unless you've read the book. I loved the book, and since I pretty much knew the entire story already it was pretty cool to see many of the images go from the pages to the big screen. But, if you don't know the story already, I could see you getting thouroughly confused as the movie goes on.
All in all, it's not a great movie, but also not awful. It' s worth seeing on screen if you read and liked the book, but would be better as a dvd for those who haven't read it. Also, it's not in Tom Hanks' top ten performances....not even close.
Just my 2 cents...
