Today is our last day in our house in Greenville. We have spent ALL weekend packing up all of our belongings. The movers are coming this afternoon to pack up the truck, then we head to Charleston tomorrow morning. So today we have to say goodbye to our house on Grove Road. We have many, many great memories here. This was our first house together, John proposed here, we hosted our first Thanksgiving here, & we had many, many gatherings out on the patio. We suffered through an ice storm in this house, spent our first 2 Chistmas mornings as a family in this house, & invested quite a bit of sweat equity in this house.
I absolutely love this house. It was built in 1938 & has so much character that you just can't find in new houses. So to make myself feel a little better about leaving it, I'm trying to focus on the positives of our new house in Charleston. Hello to TWO bathrooms and actual walk-in closets. Hello to 3 pronged outlets & a kitchen big enough we can eat in. Hello to new electrical wiring and insulation in the attic AND underneath the floor.
I wanted to put a few pictures of the Grove Road house on this post, but we don't have them on the new computer yet. All of our picture files are sadly on a CD that is packed in one of the 125 boxes stacked around the house. So those will have to wait. Hopefully it won't be too long before we have our internet connection up & running in Charleston! -Ashley
