Whit is 7 months old and there are all kinds of changes going on!
Over the past couple of weeks he has really started moving around, rolling all over the place. I feel like he's had the ability to do this for at least a month now, but he's been too stubborn. His feet have provided so much entertainment that he hasn't had the incentive to try to roll from his back to his tummy. Well, he's finally decided that it might be worth rolling onto his tummy to get to those toys that Mom and Dad have been placing just out of reach. For a while now we've had a small palette on the floor for him to play on (since we have the most uncomfortably hard rug known to mankind). Now that he's rolling all over the place, we've had to improvise a bit and are now using an open sleeping bag so that he has a larger area. I think once he starts crawling we may have to put the rug up all together.
His new found movement makes sleeping in the crib much more interesting. We never know how we're going to find him in the mornings. A few times we've even found him sleeping on his side or his tummy, which is amazing considering how much he still hates being on his tummy when he's awake.
He's also become a lot more vocal. He's always been a very quiet baby, and is still relatively so. However, there are sometimes when he loves to make noises. He's started shrieking when he's really excited or happy, and is starting to say some consonant sounds (mainly "mmmba")
Another new thing (not always so fun) is that he's whining for our attention. It's pretty sweet, but can be hard when you've got things to do around the house (& harder when you've got to work). He usually wins this battle, because it's impossible not to play with him after he flashes one of his killer grins.
You may be curious about how the sitting and bottle-holding have been going from one of our previous posts. Much improvement has been made on sitting. He's doing well enough that he can sit in a restaurant highchair and a grocery store buggy. However, he still can't sit unassisted on the floor. The bottle-holding is not going so well. Blame Mom and Dad. It has become pretty difficult to give him a bottle at all because he's very squirmy and much more interested in looking around. No need to make it more challenging.
